Frame BJJ – Waiver, Terms & Conditions

By signing up for membership, attending classes, participating in seminars, open mats, competitions, or using the facilities of Frame BJJ (“the Academy”), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to the following Waiver Release and Terms & Conditions.

1. Assumption of Risk

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and martial arts training involve physical contact and carry inherent risks including, but not limited to: Cuts, bruises, and sprains, Joint injuries, Concussions, Serious bodily injury, Permanent disability and/or Death. By participating at Frame BJJ, you voluntarily accept and assume all risks associated with training and participation.You acknowledge that you are physically and mentally fit to participate and agree to immediately notify coaches of any injury, illness, or medical condition that may affect your ability to train safely.

2. Medical Responsibility

Members are responsible for seeking medical advice before commencing training where appropriate, managing their own medical conditions and health concerns, and maintaining any personal medical or health insurance. Frame BJJ and its coaches are not responsible for medical costs, injuries, or health complications arising from participation. In the event of an emergency, you authorise Frame BJJ staff to seek medical treatment on your behalf if necessary.

3. Waiver & Release of Liability

In consideration for being permitted to participate in activities conducted by Frame BJJ, you acknowledge and agree that: You voluntarily participate entirely at your own risk. You understand that participation may result in serious injury, permanent disability, or death. You accept full responsibility for any injury, loss, damage, or expense arising from participation in classes, competitions, seminars, open mats, conditioning sessions, or use of the facilities. You release, waive, and discharge Frame BJJ, its owners, coaches, employees, volunteers, affiliates, representatives, and training partners from any and all liability, claims, demands, actions, or causes of action arising from injury, damage, loss, or death connected with participation, except where liability cannot legally be excluded under Australian law. You acknowledge that martial arts training involves physical contact and accidental injury may occur despite reasonable safety measures. You agree to follow all instructions, safety requirements, and gym policies at all times.

4. Code of Conduct

All members and visitors are expected to: Treat coaches, staff, and students with respect. Maintain good hygiene standards. Train safely and responsibly. Follow instructions from coaches. Avoid dangerous, reckless, or disruptive behaviour. Contribute positively to the training environment. Frame BJJ maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards: Violence outside legitimate sporting competition,  Bullying or harassment, Intimidation, Racism or discrimination, Criminal or gang-related behaviour. Conduct that endangers members or damages the reputation of the Academy.

5. Criminal History & Gang Affiliation Policy

Frame BJJ reserves the right to refuse, suspend, or terminate membership at its sole discretion.The Academy does not accept individuals who: Have known gang affiliations, Participate in organised criminal activity, Have a criminal history deemed incompatible with the values and safety standards of the Academy. Frame BJJ reserves the right to: Conduct police checks or request background information where legally permitted. Decline membership applications without explanation. Suspend or cancel memberships immediately where concerns arise regarding safety, criminal conduct, gang affiliation, or behaviour inconsistent with Academy standards. No refunds will be issued where membership is terminated due to misconduct or breaches of Academy policies.

6. Membership Terms

Membership fees: Must be paid on time, are non-transferable, are non-refundable unless required by law. Failure to make payment may result in suspension or cancellation of membership.Frame BJJ reserves the right to: Modify membership pricing, change class schedules, cancel classes where necessary, change instructors or training locations. Reasonable notice will be provided where possible.

7. Cancellation of Membership

Members wishing to cancel their membership must provide a minimum of four (4) weeks written notice prior to cancellation. Membership fees remain payable during the notice period and members may continue training until the cancellation date takes effect.Frame BJJ reserves the right to immediately suspend or terminate memberships without notice for: Dangerous conduct, Harassment or abuse,  Criminal activity, Gang affiliation, Repeated breaches of gym rules, conduct bringing the Academy into disrepute. No refunds will be issued where membership is terminated due to breaches of Academy policies or misconduct.

8. Photography & Media Consent

By attending Frame BJJ, you consent to photographs and videos being taken during classes, seminars, competitions, or events for promotional, marketing, and social media purposes. If you do not wish to appear in media content, you must notify Frame BJJ in writing.

9. Personal Property

Frame BJJ is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal belongings brought onto the premises.

10. Hygiene & Safety

Members must: Wear clean training attire. Maintain personal hygiene, keep fingernails and toenails trimmed. Avoid training while sick or with contagious conditions or infections. Frame BJJ reserves the right to refuse participation to anyone presenting hygiene or health concerns.

11. Children & Minors

Parents or legal guardians of minors agree to these terms on behalf of the child and accept full responsibility for the child’s participation. Parents acknowledge the risks associated with martial arts training and consent to emergency medical treatment if required.

12. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. If any provision is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain valid and enforceable.

By signing up for membership, attending classes, or participating in any activity at Frame BJJ, you acknowledge that:• You have read and understood this Waiver, Release, and Terms & Conditions• You voluntarily accept all risks associated with participation• You agree to comply with all Academy policies and rules• You understand that failure to comply may result in suspension or termination of membership
